An Introduction to Brain Power Math

If you haven't done so already download the Brain Power Math Authoring Tool. The software is free for educational use in schools and universities.

The Brain Power Math e-teaching system has two main parts. Firstly, the Instructor Authoring tool which allows teachers to create e-learning modules. Secondly, the Student tool which allows students to attempt e-learning modules created by their teacher.

Instructor Tool: The e-learning modules are created using this tool.

Student Tool: The Student attempts the e-learning module that has been created by their teacher.

Instructor Tool

There are 4 small steps to creating a question. They are:
  1. Input the question
  2. Edit the student math symbol input bar
  3. Attach any graphs
  4. Assign total marks
Correct solutions are created on a step by step basis. Instructors enter the correct solution for each step of a calculation.

There are 5 stages in creating a solution step. They are:
  1. Enter directions on how to complete the step
  2. Enter the correct solution for that step
  3. Enter any formula that you would like your students to see
  4. Attach any graphs or diagrams
  5. Assign marks for that particular step
Student Tool

The student opens a published e-learning module using the Student Tool. They then proceed to answer each step of the assignment using the input toolbar that has been previously created by the instructor. The student tool then tells the student if they are correct or incorrect on each step of the calculation. A record of the students performance on the assignment is then saved.
